Terms of service

Effective 29 October 2026 · Beta

These terms govern the use of RetrieveIQ, the property tax compliance service at app.retrieveiq.net and its programming interfaces (the “service”), provided by RetrieveIQ, a business operated from California (“we”). By using the service you agree to them on behalf of the firm that invited you. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. What the service does

RetrieveIQ reads property tax bills and assessments from county websites for the parcels your firm loads, checks them, keeps the county record as evidence, works out payment and appeal deadlines from each jurisdiction’s published rules, and shows all of it to your firm and to the clients it has engaged. The service never pays a bill, never files an appeal and never moves money.

2. Beta

The service is in beta. It is provided free of charge during the beta, it may change, and features may be added or removed as we learn. We will give account holders notice by email before the beta ends or before any fee applies.

3. Accounts

A person uses the service through an account their firm asked us to create. Keep your sign-in to yourself, tell us at once if you think it has been used by someone else, and use the service only on behalf of the firm and the clients the firm is authorised to act for. A firm is responsible for what the people it invites do in the service.

4. Your data

The parcels, documents and client details your firm loads stay your firm’s. You give us the licence we need to store them, read the related public records, and show the results to the people your firm authorises, and nothing more. You confirm that your firm is entitled to act for the clients whose parcels it loads. How we handle personal information is set out in the privacy policy.

5. Not advice

The figures, dates and rules the service shows are read from county records and published rules and checked by software. They are a tool for professionals, not tax, legal or financial advice, and a county’s own record governs where the two differ. Deadlines in particular should be confirmed against the jurisdiction before you rely on them. You remain responsible for your clients’ filings and payments.

6. Acceptable use

Do not use the service to break the law, to reach another firm’s records, to probe or overload the service, or to resell county data as a product of your own. Access through the programming interface is subject to the rate limits we publish. We may suspend access that puts the service or other firms at risk, and we will tell you why.

7. Availability

We aim to keep the service available at all times and bills refreshed every night, but we do not promise either during the beta. County websites go down, change and block without notice; when one does, the service says so rather than guessing.

8. Our rights

The service, its software, its design and its documentation belong to RetrieveIQ. These terms give you the right to use the service, not ownership of any of it. Feedback you give us may be used to improve the service without obligation to you.

9. Ending

A firm may end its account at any time by writing to us. We may end an account for a breach of these terms, with notice where the breach can be put right. When an account ends, the firm may export its data for 30 days, after which we delete it as the privacy policy describes.

10. Warranties and liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, and we make no warranty that it is error-free or fit for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including penalties, interest or lost appeal rights that follow from a figure or date the service showed, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount your firm paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars during the beta.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California. If a part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.

12. Changes

When these terms change, the date at the top changes with it, and we tell account holders by email before a change that affects them takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that date is acceptance of the new terms.
